Ronald L. Russel

Marysville - Ronald passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor on April 14, 2018. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Maria. Ron, Maria and their children, Molly, Bryce and Ringo made up the Fab 5. He is also survived by a son, Derek; daughter, Rachelle Russel-Smith; grandsons, Devin and Nathan Smith and Cody Smafield; granddaughters, Malia Russel and Stella; brother, James; sisters, Janice Leeper and Kathleen Faws; sister-in-law, Angela Buchan; and an uncle, many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Virginia Russel.

Ron served his country in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany and was a graduate of SC4 and Wayne State University. In 2008, he was inducted in the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame for his outstanding pitching with the McGill "Winkies", little league baseball team. 

Ron was a social worker for the State of Michigan for 14 years and retired from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service/Customs and Border Protection after 21 years.

Ron loved his family and friends, music and art. He loved watching all sports and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. 

Ron wanted to express his gratitude to those who helped with his care for the past 11 years including Uncle Garry Archer, and good friends, Allen Cleaver and the late Lee Griffin.
