Lyle Cornette

Lyle F. Cornette, age 69, of East China Twp. and formerly of Port Huron died January 16, 2013 in his home after a long illness.

He was born August 2, 1943 in Port Huron and was a life long area resident. He served in the U.S. Navy. He also owned LRL Painting and Sandblasting, and was a member of International Painters Local 1474. Lyle was also a member of the Eagles #3702 and the Moose #158. He enjoyed volunteering with the Port Huron Little League in years past. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed hunting trips to Argentina, Uruguay, Pelee Island, and Walkerton, ON. Lyle was a member of the St. Clair Hunt and Fish Club.

He is survived by his loving companion of 12 years, Judy Stockwell-Cornette, 3 children, Lyle H. Cornette, Melody Brown, and Richard F. Cornette, 2 step-children, Doug (Mawryhia) Stockwell and Stacy Stockwell, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, a sister, Carol Ann Kaiser-Kelly, a brother, Herbert Cornette, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Dennis Stockwell, and his former wife, Mary Lou Cornette. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - North, 1525 Hancock St. with The Rev. Max Amstutz officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
